Pixi Beauty

For a while now I have been telling myself that I need to up my skincare game, especially as the colder months are honing in on us. Pixi beauty has been on my radar for some time now, I've been religiously reading reviews,  listening to all the beauty bloggers rave about the products, and popping in and out of the store on Carnaby street, sniffing, testing & swatching every product in sight. But it was when I heard Caroline Hirons mention how much she loved some of the Pixi products that I knew I had to get my hands on some!
The two products that stood out to me where the Glow Tonic (probably an obvious one, beauty bloggers everywhere love this one) and the Flawless Beauty Primer, which is one that Caroline mentioned in one of her videos. I thought that these were pretty good products to start with, both easy to use with a simple concept, products that I thought would give me a good insight in to the brand.

Pixi Glow Tonic
The Glow Tonic is an alcohol free exfoliating toner, that is said to tone, firm and tighten the skin and with the presence of Glycolic acid, remove any dead skin cells to give healthier looking skin. Packed full of skin friendly ingredients, such as Ginseng which promotes skin health and vibrancy, Aloe which soothes and hydrates, Witch Hazel to firm and tone and Horse Chestnut to promote blood flow, all working together to bring you a naturally fresh and dewy radiance.

At just £18.00 a bottle I totally understand the hype over this product because for me it is definitely doing everything it says on the bottle and for such a reasonable price, thats a lot.
I really like the fresh scent of the product, it smells very natural and not artificially perfumed, which makes me very comfortable with putting it on my face, something that can often put me off a product. I apply tis product in the way that it instructs on the bottle, by saturating a cotton pad and sweeping it across my face and down my neck. Initially I expected some kind of tingling sensation due to it being an Acid toner, however there was none, it was all soothe and no burn with this product, it is very gentle and kind on the skin.
Since using this product I have noticed a dramatic change in my skin, it is a million times softer than before, much more radient & dewy and just generally looks healthier and clearer than it has in a while. Being a person that often gets very dry on certain areas of my face I was worried that this product was going to dry my face out further, however it has done the complete opposite and there is not a dry patch to be seen on my face.
For me this is the perfect product to use during the colder months as it keeps you looking fresh and glowing, when in the winter months your skin tends to become a bit dull and lacklustre.

Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer

The Flawless Beauty primer is a primer used to even out the skin tone and offer a dewy 'glow within' look. This primer can be used on it's own or underneath your foundation. It is quite pricey at £24.00 a bottle, something that originally had me question the need for it. However, after hearing Caroline Hirons mention she had repurchased this multiple times, I knew it was worth the money and that I wanted to give it a go.
Much like the Glow Tonic this product is also full of ingredients that are very beneficial to the skin, such as,Pearl extract for revitalisation, protection and anti-ageing, Vitamin E which increases skin elasticity, Vitamin A which is a powerful antioxidant and Vitamin C for it's revitalising and nourishing benefits. It's very comforting to know that something that is marketed as a make-up product has so many good ingredients, that you know are doing great things to your skin, as opposed to just being there.

On first thoughts the product was quite slippy and greasy in texture, however it sinks into the skin nicely and feels almost like a moisturiser on the skin, saying that, I wouldn't recommend replacing your moisturiser for this product as that is not it's intended purpose!
Immediately after application there was a noticeable difference to my skin, the tone looked even and my face looked fresh and dewy, a very natural healthy glow, much like it's advertised, it was a 'glowing from within' kind of glow. At this point my skin wasn't at a stage where I was happy to go out foundation free, however I can see that this product would be enough for some people as it leaves such a lovely clear canvas, so foundation wouldn't be needed.
With foundation over the top of this product it worked beautifully, not only as a primer, but the glow could be seen through your foundation, giving you a really lovely dewy finish without it looking oily. However, I don't think I would recommend this product to anyone that is prone to oily skin, as I found that later in the day, certain areas of my face were a little bit more shiny than normal, but this wasn't too much of an issue as I just blotted it away, and I use a face mattifying spray in my daily routine which works against this. But for someone with oily prone skin, it could be more of an issue.
I have also used this product another way, rather than using it under my foundation as an all over the face glow, I have been using it on top of my foundation, using it to give a glowy highlight to certain areas of my face, such a my cheek bones and down the centre of my nose and I have to say it works so nicely, it isn't an over the top 'look at my crazy highlighted face' look, it is very natural subtle highlight, but it catches the light beautifully and blends seamlessly into the foundation.

For me this product has definitely been worth the money, it works exactly how I imagined it would and a little goes a very long way, so i'm definitely getting my moneys worth out of it. Again, like I said for the Glow Tonic, this product is also perfect winter product as it will give you that healthy glow the colder months tend to suck out of your skin.

My thoughts on the brand so far...

Obviously I cannot judge the entire brand and its product range on just these two products, however from what I have experienced with the two I have used, I am very impressed and eager to try some of their other products. Both products have an incredible range of skin friendly ingredients that have tonnes of great benefits and I think for the quality of the ingredients and the products in general, the price point it amazing!
The only thing I would criticise is the packaging, it is almost very child like in its appearance and I don't think it sells the quality of the product as well as it could. For products as good as these are I don't think the packaging reflects it, but it is a pretty minor thing and from reading reviews and trying the product yourself, you will know how great the products are.
