I've been asked to review a couple of SS15 Collections. Im going to review them in two separate posts, to save any confusion, more for myself then you guys!!
This collection is the Native Youth SS15 Women's collection.
The brand originally established themselves in the menswear market and have come forward with a new women's collection, which I think opens up many more avenues for the brand.
The collection, for me, seems to have 3 different elements, those being:
Urban Street wear
Simple Staples
Vintage
These three elements are what I pick out straight away when looking at the collection, however different they may seem, they work together to create a strong fluid, yet diverse collection.
While the whole collection remains very trend conscious, there are pieces within the collection that when paired together can push boundaries.
The use of different textures and the occasional prints bring a fun, creative element to the collection, which I feel is key when designing a SS collection.
Whilst the collection is very feminine, there is somewhat of a boyish vibe, wether this be coming from the boxy shaped tops, the baggy plaid shirts or the bucket hat accessories, it ties the women's collection in with the mens, establishing the brand as a cool, urban designer.
The denim pieces keep the collection looking almost timeless, with them being usable for future seasons and not to mention great wardrobe staples.
The collection oozes a cool summer vibe, with none of the pieces being overly fitted and keeping to a simple colour palette. This works in the brands favour as many of the pieces will work well in to any outfit and makes daily clothing choices much simpler and easier to wear.
